Summary: Popular respects your privacy. We use an anonymous device ID to track votes. Personal information is only collected if you voluntarily provide it. We do not sell or share your data.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You May Provide Voluntarily
- Account Information: Name, email, address (optional, stored locally on your device)
- Booster Profile: If you purchase a Booster, you may provide your name, email address, and social media links
- Voting Data: Your likes and dislikes on personalities
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Anonymous Device ID: A unique identifier generated on your device
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, app version
- Technical Data: IP address (for server communication only, not stored)
1.3 Information We DO NOT Collect
- No location tracking
- No camera or microphone access
- No contacts or photos access
- No advertising identifiers
2. How We Use Your Information
- Calculate Scores: Aggregate votes to compute popularity scores
- Display Rankings: Show trending personalities and top lists
- Booster Visibility: Display your name on the Home page if you purchase a Booster
- Transactional Emails: Send confirmations and reminders (only if you provide an email)
- Prevent Abuse: Enforce the 24-hour voting limit per personality

- Aggregated vote counts
- Booster purchases

3.3 Security
- HTTPS encryption for all communications
- Secure MongoDB Atlas cloud hosting
- No payment data stored (handled by Apple/Google)
4. Data Sharing
We do NOT sell your data.
- Public Display: Personality scores and Booster profiles are public by design
- Service Providers: Hosting and email services with strict confidentiality
- Legal Obligations: If required by law

6. In-App Purchases
Processed through Apple In-App Purchase (iOS) or Google Play Billing (Android). We do not store payment information.
7. Third-Party Services
- Wikipedia API: To search for public figures (no personal data sent)
- Google Trends: To identify trending personalities
- Brevo: For transactional emails
8. Children's Privacy
Popular is rated 12+ and is not intended for children under 12.
9. GDPR Compliance
